gwendolyngrace: (ScuseMe?)
So, I booked my travel for Eyecon!

I'm coming in on Thursday night.

I don't check in to the hotel until Friday.

Is anyone else getting in early and interested in a room share? Otherwise I can Priceline for $50ish for the night.
gwendolyngrace: (Wee!Jensen School Pic)
So.

I still do not have a car that can get me to Pennsic.

I've been researching options.

The best option seems to be: Fly. JetBlue gets me to Pittsburgh and back for about the same price as a single day of one-way car rental. (Which, by the way... outrageous! And holding the car for a week while it sits on Steel Hill? Only slightly less outrageous.)

But. That just gets *me* there. And most of my clothes. It doesn't get my *stuff* there.

SCA-LJ Peeps (and especially those in the Boston area!) - who do we know with room in their truck, van, car, etc., who can help get my basic gear to war? I promise I'll pack light. I'll even leave the instruments home. (I can also posting a plea on the Carolingia LJ, but I thought I'd start with, y'know, personal connections first.) Contact info? Clue me. I'll gladly contribute a little toward gas, even.

This is all by way of insurance, of course: Now that I have a plane ticket, I'll likely find the right car and get it all done by July 31, right? RIGHT?

My gods, it's been a helluva couple of weeks.

I know I promised an update on Monday, but then I got busy reading flist and email and working...and didn't do it.

So here's a MASSIVE update:

Last Weekend )

Work )

The only other thing about work is that unfortunately, I think our AA Karen is just dumb. There's really nothing I can do about stupid. But maybe with Boss D out this week I can give her some more time and training, and start the arduous process of teaching her how to think.

The last 60 hours or so )

I caved and called for a pizza as we passed the pizza place, figuring it would arrive a few minutes after I did. I got home at 7:35. It just came a little after 8:00 PM. I'm fed.

I'm really fried.

But man, it was great to see folks, as always.

Okay. Put away leftover pizza. Grab more water. Check email. Shower. Sleep. Cripes, it's 9:30 already!

Fuck, I'm tired.
gwendolyngrace: (Ivory Pure Sam)
Hai.

Yeah, I was so busy over the weekend that...well, I forgot yesterday was Monday. I mean, with the coming home and all. And even though I was home last night...I was really whipped. So no Monday Meta for [livejournal.com profile] wee_chesters, no update from the weekend.

I suck.

Well.

Saturday )

Sunday )

Monday I got up, packed, and D&D and Mom drove me to the airport (BTW, they have a new RAV4 and love it, so that's a notch in its belt on the car decision). I called [livejournal.com profile] etakyma, who is the bestest non-spouse ever and she picked me up at Logan and then hung out with me yesterday until time to go to her rehearsal.

Then I watched Timeline, which wasn't nearly as bad as I'd been led to believe (but it was bad enough!), and then the first half of the new Andromeda Strain. Yes, it was a Michael Crichton night for me.

Andre Braugher is really looking old. Just sayin'.

BigBang - I have read through each parallel story on its own and made some modifications. I merged it back together and now I need to re-read it again. It went up 1,000 words, not down. But that's okay. One thing that's reassuring is that the "Modern" sections are only 5 pages shorter in total than the "Flashbacks" - so it's fairly even at least in terms of overall story length. I'm a little concerned that it's still light on casework, but this isn't so much about the file as the people. I'm also concerned with my John, but I think I can shut him down a tiny bit more and he'll be okay.

And the other thing? Yeah. Totally didn't do a Monday Meta. Sigh. And I had a topic, too! Now I can't remember it. Naturally.

Well. Today I started training our new Admin Coordinator! and called my doctor and convinced him to call in a Z-pack without making me come in and be seen. No, really. I can diagnose a sinus infection, doc. Just gimme the drugs.

So I'll pick that up on the way home, and I need to hit the grocery store or I won't have food.

Oh, and I got some pretty good news yesterday of a Supernatural nature, but I'm not able to talk about it yet. :^D

As far as all of you? Well, I hate to tell you, gang, but I'm probably at about skip=800. No lie. So, I'm terribly sorry, I'm declaring a moratorium on trying to catch up. I'll read LJ tonight with posts from the last day or so, but all the way back? Sorry. No. So if I missed anything major in the last 100 hours or so, I'm really sorry. Clue me. Except for Morgen and Erin's dad, because I know about that. :^(
gwendolyngrace: (Sad!Sammy)
Well, technically, Eldersburg.

Long day yesterday, topped off with no wireless at my aunt and uncle's (which, why would they? They've only got one computer). So I'm just posting now.

Who will I see at Balticon? I don't have a panel until 5:00 PM, but tomorrow I'm there pretty much all day.

I'm also *Still* coughing/sore throating/GI Tract vaguely unhappy no matter what-ing. I think it's turning sinus infection-y. Will get Dayquil on the way to the con.

Okay, I had an ear infection about...11 years ago? And since then my left ear has been a little messed up. It doesn't "pop" with pressure changes. Between my stuffed-up head and chest, for the first time in a LONG time while flying, I had actual PAIN on the descent. As in, from the bit of cartilage that covers the ear canal, down through my Eustachian tubes and the cochlear duct, right into my lymph nodes under the jaw hurt. Sharp pain. Yay.

And I feel gnawingly hungry, but anything I eat goes down and causes lots and lots of GI distress... (Ew, yeah, I know). I'm just burping like mad, feels like I've overeaten even if I've just had a few bites. I had mad hiccups Thursday night for like half an hour, and did I mention the abdominal cramps?

Yeah. And I cough every time I breathe too deep. This is GREAT.

So it's probably just as well that I won't see my nieces (well, technically, my uncle and aunt's grandchildren, but since technically, we're not blood relatives, anyway....). I really wouldn't want to pass on this lovely spring virus.

But if you're planning to be at Balticon, come anyway - I promise I won't breathe on you.
gwendolyngrace: (Clank gets a clue)
Bring us [livejournal.com profile] pegkerr, [livejournal.com profile] mudblood428, [livejournal.com profile] drvsilla, and probably more of you out there.

Happy Birthday, y'all.

In other news: [livejournal.com profile] etakyma and I are twins! Or so our waitress thought the other day. Because, you know, we look so much alike.

Undecided about EyeCon in September. Would love to go. Just not sure financially/schedulewise it's a good move.

Cause there's still the matter of the car to settle. I guess I'm just not ready, though I'm slowly making progress. Once the draft for the BigBang fic is in (OMG, three/four days left, much to write still) I can relax a smidge. After Crown.

Argh. I need like a week off from life.
gwendolyngrace: (Thoughtful Dean)
I have some travel coming up in April and May. Most of the transportation is booked, but some is still up in the air due to car situation and all that.

I just reserved a rental car for Coronation, because I seriously do not see myself in a new car by April 11.

But the May travel is more problematic. War Practice and the weekend after that (Memorial Day), Balticon.

Right now, I can get JetBlue through Orbitz for $250ish for a round-trip ticket to Pittsburgh for War Practice (Astonishingly, this is about $15 cheaper than purchasing directly on JetBlue's site).

AirTran is having a bit of a fare sale (though not a great one) but I can also get tickets to BWI for Balticon through Orbitz (American Airlines) for about $144 taxes included. I can add a rental car and it's still only about $250--lower if I go with the connecting flight instead of a non-stop.

Thing is, I'm not sure I could drive to Baltimore for much cheaper. I'm less thrilled about the War Practice weekend fares, but Pittsburgh isn't the hub it used to be, and it's way easier to fly for that weekend than drive--since it's about a 10-hour drive each way, which would mean either straight through on Friday and straight back on Sunday or Thursday night to Rochester, Friday the rest of the way, and then all the way back to Boston on Sunday. Either way it means missing Friday's work and a LONG drive on Sunday. Plus, if I fly, I've got a ride to the site and back to the airport (Right, [livejournal.com profile] grouchyoldcoot?)

Whereas in Bawlmer I will have to have some ground transportation to get back and forth from crash to site.

But $500 in two weekends? Yikes. And if I do have a new car, driving it to Balto is a good chance to give it a shakedown. But if I don't, then there's no option and I will have to fly and fly/rent.

Hm. Okay I did some math. Math is good! Figuring 4 tanks of gas at about $35 per tank (900 miles round-trip), that comes to about $150 in gas. Tack on another $20 for tolls (Mass, NJ, and NY). So the difference between flying that weekend and driving is about $50 give-or-take, and of course, several hours in the car.

All this wibbling still leaves me really unsure what to do, though. Drive to both? Fly to both? Drive to Baltimore and fly to War Practice?

Nargh.
gwendolyngrace: (Thoughtful Dean)
Man, I have had so much to do in the last week, I haven't had the slightest bit of time to journal about it.

Car update: Flat tire was a nail, but it was warrantied, so no cost! The body work will come in at $850. Called the woman and told her both estimates. Predictably, because the total is over $1,200, and she still hasn't got her own car fixed, she now thinks she might have to put in a claim through her insurance. Le Sigh. I really want a check. I want it so that I can apply it to the replacement for the car. Not that I don't love my Ashley! But a car that doesn't drive places reliably is just not really much good.

The reality check of the car made me reconsider reconsidering going to EyeCon. Also, no Gulf Wars this year, even if I could do it financially - schedule precludes, as it conflicts with Sound of Music.

Okay, so last night I beta'd a chapter, packed, presided over a board meeting, and *then* recorded, edited, and uploaded a 20-page fic with 10+ voices...until 2:00 AM. Took about an hour to get to sleep because of all the psyching myself up to stay awake. Alarm went off at 6, I arose at 6:30. Arrived at work at 8, worked pretty much non-stop until 4:30, at which point I hightailed it (as fast as the MBTA would take me) to the airport, got on my plane, and flew here. Thought I would sleep on the plane, but instead I typed in the longhand of chapter 11 I'd written yesterday and today, and then kept typing until they made me turn off the computer, which was only seconds after I killed a major Victim-of-the-Week, yay, go me.

Retrieved bags, waited for [livejournal.com profile] grouchyoldcoot, who picked me up and drove us through torrential rain to Max and Erma's, which was closed, so we went to the Sharp Edge, had deep fried cheese and then a yummy salad, drove home, admired the progress on his kitchen, helped insert the dishwasher hose into the freshly drilled hole that Joel drilled while I was watching him do it, unpacked the suitcase FULL of his Christmas presents (both his, as in for him from me, and his as in, from him for others) that he couldn't get into his luggage while he was visiting me, and now, we're catching up on email. It's 1:15 AM! I've been up for many hours, with only about 3 1/2 hours of sleep to have started me off.

:Iz ded. Okay. Girl Genius and then brush teeth and then CRASH.

Home!

Made it home, driving through the nor'easter. Yeah, I know.

But really? It was...well, at times utterly terrifying, but otherwise fine. The Thruway and the Pike were both open, though parts of the Pike had been posted at 40 MPH, but my average speed was probably closer to 60 over the whole trip. The Thruway was terrible, as the plow situation was, well, not very good, so every time one had to change lanes or do anything, it was a struggle to keep from getting sidelined by the slush. I only stopped twice - Port Byron for the bathroom, and Mohawk for another bathroom break and also to get gas - and actually, getting off at Port Byron was one of the places I was most afraid I would spin out.

However, I did not, and all along the road, every 20-30 miles or so, there were visual reminders not to do anything stupid. So we went slow and steady, and my hands are very, very sore from gripping the wheel. I was literally afraid to take either hand off at any time, so my moments of one-handed driving were minimal: changing CDs, only a handful of sips of soda, until I got through the Berkshires and suddenly the weather was almost fine, comparatively speaking. The mountains SUCKED, but they always suck to go through in the weather.

I still have the rental car, but it's unloaded and cleaned out; I'll drop it off when they open (which I think is 7:00 AM) and go on to work from bringing it back. I don't think they'll charge me for any extra time - they can't rent it until they've checked it back in first thing, anyway.

I'm glad I went, but I'm glad I left Buffalo when I did, and I'm actually glad I insisted on leaving Rochester. Now I shan't miss work (Yay!) and really, apart from being a little harrying, it wasn't even a hellish long trip. It took 5 hours to get home *from work* during the big storm Thursday; it actually took only 7 hours to get from Rochester all the way back to Boston. That's only an hour longer than usual, altogether.

I have many, many journals to catch up on. I also need to shower, wash dishes, sort my mail, and generally get back on track. So forgive me if I don't leave my usual pithy comments.

Oh - and audition update: I was asked to play the "Dancer" instead of the Pirate. Apparently the music director just couldn't wrap his brain around cross-gender casting for this one. Sad! But whatever. I'll take the part and have fun with it. I just hope the person they did wind up casting is good - I know him, he's a great guy, but I've never seen him perform, even informally. Meh. World domination is yet another step away.

Next life? I'd like to go back to being male again. Just putting in the recycling request now, thanks.

ALSO: There will be fic this week. Gods, there will be fic. But I have a question for those of you who read my Supernatural stuff: should I post my spn_thur_nights exchange in chapters as a WIP or wait to post it all at once by the 1/31/08 deadline, even if it's a Christmas-themed request and I might not get it finished until after Christmas?

SHOW!

Dec. 13th, 2007 08:24 pm
gwendolyngrace: (Wee!Jensen School Pic)
We had a huge storm this afternoon.

Huge. And still coming. So the office closed early, our read-through got canceled, and I get to WATCH MY SHOW tonight!

Of course, it took a solid FIVE HOURS to get home. Left at 1:30 PM, got off the bus at Mem Drive before it turned right for Kendall and *walked* 15 minutes to Central Square. Ten minutes later I was at Harvard...where I waited for 40 minutes for a 73, and then we crawled (pretty much literally) all the way down Mt. Auburn / Trapelo. After an additional 90 minutes on the bus...I hopped off at Slade street, popped into the CVS there for milk (and eggnog) and walked the rest of the way home.... and got in at 6:30 after slogging through ALL THAT SNOW.

Jeebus. However, I've changed, I'm warm, I'm IN, and I will have SHOW in about half an hour. With eggnog.

Hee.

OH - and the wonderful and darn-near incomparable [livejournal.com profile] ficwriter1966 posted her response to my fic request of a few months ago as part of her marathon Christmas ficapalooza. It's called "Family Ties" and it's up here.

Go read and give her some love! Bobby! Dean! Ties!
gwendolyngrace: (PilotJohn)
So, roughly two months after he predicted that his sister would inconvenience him right around the time of his birthday party, [livejournal.com profile] grouchyoldcoot is off to Athens (Ohio, not Greece, for you new kids around here) tonight - yes, four days before said party - to be on hand tomorrow when her doctors place a feeding tube.

Ordinarily this would not be a huge concern, except that she apparently went and told their mother that she didn't want any heroic measures should things go south during the procedure. Considering her health, this is not an insignificant possibility. And so far, her mother (as her proxy) is adhering to Karen's POV.

I'm fairly certain that this will turn out per routine and there's no cause for stress. But he's understandably both concerned and annoyed, not without reason. It's yet another pearl in the string of wanting to help Karen and being unable to do so. OTOH, the PEG tube is clearly the right action, so there's no question that the risk is worth the reward for success. And failure? Well...hate to say it, but it would solve a lot of problems. Just not sure what problems it would leave in its wake. So yeah, we just don't want that to happen when the likelihood that success would vastly improve Karen's quality of life is so high.

So this is me, giving my boy some virtual hugs from four states away. And hoping I don't have to make arrangements to fly into Columbus this week.

In other news, David overheard me and Robby muttering a little about the need to introduce some structure to Act 2, scene 4, and asked me what we were saying, and I stayed after rehearsal to talk to him about it. And 1:1, he was receptive. I got the "I hate it when people are bitching but don't tell me why, but I also hate it when people hit me with feedback in front of the whole cast." Well, good to know. But y'know, you get very hostile when we "hit you with feedback" in front of everyone, and that tends to make a cast want to hang back and not tell you, wait for you to get around to fixing what needs fixing, instead of hoping that we'll find it on our own. Sigh. But at least he seemed to hear what I was saying about actors filling time in ways that will help the other actors in the scene, not just take up space, and maybe Thursday we'll get him to give people some business that will enhance the scene and make it run more smoothly.

My leg is still giving me trouble, but I have a plan to try the heating pad tonight and we'll see how that goes.

Must go to bed. Not remotely tired.

Weekend

Oct. 15th, 2007 06:59 pm
gwendolyngrace: (Kituralb Sam)
Had an overall great weekend that descended into craptasticity by Sunday evening.

Got to Philadelphia on schedule and met [livejournal.com profile] blackholly and give her a picture he drew, because Spiderwyck is one of his fave books. Cool.

My aunt, Elaine, also came into town and paid for a one-day pass, and hung out with us until about 5:00 pm. Also saw [livejournal.com profile] awelkin briefly and throughout the day.

Charles Vess is delightful! I forgot that Michael Hague would be there, so did not bring books for him to sign and didn't feel like buying any. Also never saw the Matthewses, so I could have left my heavy Arthurian Book of Days, The Bardic Sourcebook, and Gawain home, but of course, had I not brought them, I would have seen them immediately. Likewise, [livejournal.com profile] ellenkushner's presence was not known to me on Saturday, and she didn't have signings scheduled until after I was supposed to be in the air returning home.

Supposed to be. Because my plane took off an hour and a half late - we taxied out later than we were supposed to have *landed* - and what with all the waiting, I accidentally left my jacket in the seats at the gate. Realized it halfway up the aisle to my seat on the plane, though, so had to get a flight crewman (co-pilot, I'm pretty sure) to escort me back and retrieve my coat. It turns out that the nice lady who had been sitting next to me planned to bring it on board with her, so I would still have been reunited with my T pass and my house keys (and my coat!), but no one can guarantee these things, so better that I remembered when I did and not as we were pulling away from the gantry.

Anyway. Flight (once we actually ascended) took 45 minutes, but it took fully 2 hours to get home from the airport. Grr. By which time I was horribly late for rehearsal, but went anyway.

I will not rant here about David. Really. Because I know it's partly that I have been tired, and partly that I'm bitchy, but God Damn, that man does not listen well. Nor do I feel like he trusts me as an actor. Different styles. Or maybe we're too much alike. I don't know. But not ranting.

So what was FaerieCon like? Well, it was a good first effort, but basically it was one big exhibit hall with vendors. They had one of the rooms on the lower floor (which reminds me, Elaine offered to take us upstairs to the bigger halls and show us, but we never did get up there), and it was large and open and had no divisions and most importantly, nothing to absorb sound. They had two stages set up, one on either side of the back of the room, but if one went further than about 20 yards away from the sound system, it was impossible to hear. It was very difficult to really hear and understand even *with* the amplification.

As for vendors, yes, there were lots. Future Relics - I got to chat with Billy and Simon and Maggie. (Apparently my replacement ring is on tap, as soon as they do another casting. Yay!) And [livejournal.com profile] fabricdragon - I couldn't remember who said you knew her--it was [livejournal.com profile] liamstliam - but it turns out we are separated by 2 degrees on like 5 planes. Because she is the one who suggested "Bad-Ass Faeries" as a title to Danielle! Heh.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] theboomboom, Tiernan Redwolf sends his love.

So, the thing is? It was a trade show / shopping mall on fantasy/faerie themes, and while there was a LOT of cool stuff, and some really beautiful clothes, fabrics, etc., it was all stuff I really have no use for. I'm not going to spend $95 on a bias-cut jaggedy-hemmed velvet skirt, no matter how pretty it is. There was one merchant who had gorgeous stuff, and really interesting: he hand-felted fabric and dyed it, he had dyed china silk camisoles, and then he had dyed camisoles over which he dribbled liquid latex in contrasting colors. The effect created some partially rubberized clothing, and as he put it, it added "boning structure". But it was seriously expensive. The felted pieces that I liked best were over $200. Um. No.

But lots of good costuming ideas. I am sorry that I didn't see the fashion show, but watching people walking around gave me a lot of great mental imagery.

I hope that next year they get different spaces for the programming, and offer a little more in the way of it. Even if I'd been on a flight scheduled later, I don't think we'd have had any reason to go back. Except for Ellen Kushner's Thomas the Rhymer. And the Matthews signing.

So here it is only Monday and I'm exhausted. I'll be dragging my ass all week to get to Friday.

But it was SOOO great to see Wendy again, and to spend time with Elaine, and to see Catherine ever-so-briefly. And it was fun.
gwendolyngrace: (Cherry_sin's Winchesters)
This is a quickish post, as I'm getting ready to leave for FaerieCon!

1. Have downloaded and watched "The Kids are Alright" - Much better ep than last week's, and I *liked* last week's just fine, overall, but this episode ROCKED HARD. Will probably watch again at the airport....

2. My timing is great. Al Gore wins the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on global warming, including making "An Inconvenient Truth." What arrived in my mail yesterday, courtesy of Netflix? Yup. Will also watch that (in bits probably) in the airport / on the plane....

3. [livejournal.com profile] goldsquare posted a link to this article which is highly interesting and worth reading. All about cursing - with the words included, even! [livejournal.com profile] grouchyoldcoot, you'll like it a lot, I think.

4. This will only make sense to [livejournal.com profile] etakyma but I love Rita. Just sayin'. And there are times I'd like to strangle David, but it's all good, really. Remind me about this and I might be able to remember why I'm saying it now to explain my crypticity. Suffice to say rehearsal went late, and overall okay, we got through the most complex scene in the play. But it was a bit stressful.

5. There is no number 5.

6. How sad is it that [livejournal.com profile] ellen_kushner will be performing "Thomas the Rhymer" at FaerieCon...right when I have to leave for the airport to come home? Sigh. Bringing my copy of the book anyway, in case I can catch her to sign it. (This will be one of the first times I'll be able to say, "Wow. I read your LJ!" Hee.)

7. "The Golden Compass" trailer is droolworthy. Go Check It Out!

I think that's it for now. Time to square things away at work and go to Philly. Yay!
gwendolyngrace: (Keb91's Winchesters)
This is mainly for me, to help organize myself as I think about what's going on for the rest of the year.

Now that I've finished the monster fic that would not be simple even though I tried, I have some other stuff and deadlines and travel coming up.

Tonight / This weekend:
-Pay Bills
-Take CD-Rom and certified mail to Post Office and get mailed
-More laundry? Clean?

Next FANFIC projects:
-ASOIAF - I owe this for a New Year's Resolution at Yuletide. The request was for Jaime/Loras angst and it's driving me buggy because so far what I have is *awful* and I hate it, but I'm going to JUST FINISH the darn thing already and get it posted so it's not hanging over my head. This means *before* the SPN plot bunnies eat my brain away entirely. It also means before the end of October because I have a self-imposed deadline for something I want done by Halloween.
-The thing I want done by Halloween.
-Supernatural / West Wing Crossover - Amy and I have written this but our beta has been unable to get it back to us before posting it.
-Supernatural / NCIS crossover - Companion (of sorts) to the West Wing Crossover
-Five Times... - I completely fail at the concept that a 5x fic is supposed to be short snapshots, but there's good stuff and it all fits together. I'm struggling with my 5th one, though.
-Assorted other SPN fics and snippets

Editing:
We're getting going with a few other anthologies. The list can be viewed at Sidhe na Daire if anyone is interested in submitting. So there will be reading and editing coming up on these. And I should probably write a story or two for at least one of them....

Speaking of which, we're promoting the book at FaerieCon and yes, I'm going. Stop by if you're there!

Which brings me to TRAVEL.

September 7-9: Bards & Bows, Sterlynge Vayle
September 14-16: Coronation, BMDL
October 5-7*: Crown, Thescorre
October 12-14: FaerieCon, Philadelphia
October 26-28*: Birthday Tourney, BMDL (very tentative)
November 9-12: Site Visit, Orlando

Thanksgiving? Christmas? No idea yet.

*Maghnus, the 8th is Columbus Day which means I'll have a holiday on your birthday! Depending on Cara, we could extend the visit? If not, I might stay in Rochester an extra day to be with Mom (and to dig out comics and books to take with me for authors to sign at FaerieCon....)

Lots of stuff going on. Oh, right. I'm supposed to be auditioning for *shows* somewhere in all this. Meh.
gwendolyngrace: (Llywela13's Thoughtful Dean)
First off, a little GRRRR: I forgot my flash drive today, hence cannot get half the things done I was going to do. However, it's almost time to go home already, so meh. I did manage to start the next scene in my fic (just skipping ahead), so I still got a little progress.

Meanwhile....

The book my story is in, Bad-Ass Faeries? Danielle is promoting it at FaerieCon, and I'm wibbling about whether I should go.

Wibbling behind the cut )

And now a little bit about money )

In honour of these two rather troubling decisions I must make, I present to you:

My First LJ Poll! )

Back!

I'm back from Prophecy and Pennsic.

Prophecy was great - exhausting, but exhilerating at the same time. The auction went really well, too - we raised over $2,300 for Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. Thank you, fandom! From what I could tell people really enjoyed the programming and other activities.

Pennsic was...well, Pennsic. Hot, sticky, humid, rainy...not the best year, weatherwise. And I hated that it was so short - I barely got acclimated and it was time to go home. I did have fun, despite getting heat exhaustion Wednesday (though the Wakefield plays went very well, they were sadly underattended due to all the heat), but I wish I'd had more time and more voice.

Got home Sunday afternoon, immediately unloaded all the crap from the car, took the rental back to the Marriott, where [livejournal.com profile] etakyma picked me up and ferried me home. Then I showered for 20 minutes - 20 glorious minutes of continuous, steamy water. Bliss. And caught up on email.

But I have not caught up on LJ. Sadly, I've lost two weeks. So if there's anything major that I missed and should go check out, let me know, y'all.

Okay, back to work, where I am *buried*, btw.
gwendolyngrace: (Froda's Remus)
That makes you think your hobby isn't all that wacked, after all? And maybe you and your friends really are smarter than the average bear?

Project Runway Message Boards. That's all I'm saying.

"Scrooge and Marley" is over, wah/yay. Time to pick up the pieces of all the other projects still pending. "Wizard of Oz" is cast, rehearsals start up right after New Year's. Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (selected) in Wellesley. My car will hate me again for making it consume mass quantities of gas. Living 10 minutes from the Arlington theatre spoiled me. I predict my Ramen consumption will rise.

I have to figure out how to watch Daily Show and Colbert Report and still get to bed by 11:15. Because dude, consistently losing a full hour from my normal sleep routine is just not going to work on a sustained basis.

I'm going to Yule this weekend, then Rochester for Christmas, returning to Boston for New Year's, then back to Rochester/Buffalo for AE 12th Night. I'd like to go to EK 12th Night in Settmour Swamp, but I'm having trouble finding anyone with crash space/hotel plans I can share. Hoping to network this weekend.

Oh, I guess the other big news (except it's not) is that we had a boiler explosion at work yesterday - no injuries, just knocked out heat and hot water for a few hours - and we had to activate the hospital disaster plan to transfer critical patients to other facilities until work crews could bring one of the boilers back online. I felt bad for people who had to stay when I was willing to do so, but was released to go home. It's not that I'm a crisis junkie, but I certainly could have helped had there been anything assigned to me. Instead other people wound up staying until 8 or 9 to do it all. Oh, well. I'm also not upset that I got to go home and do laundry, so whatever.

Sudoku is eating my brain. I can feel the brain cells dying. On the other hand, according to that quiz site place that's just a front for a dating site, I'm a genius. I always knew it. (I'm also a male, sexually speaking. I knew that too.)

Right. Well, this is entirely random. On the other hand, lunch has arrived, so time to eat!
