Oh, hai, LJ! I remember that I have a thing here. I can post on it. I can read up on what my friends are doing.

Yeah. I haven't done, like, any of that since returning to what I like to call real life.

Job is going fine. Still feel like I'm swimming in an ocean of things I don't understand, but it will start to make sense; I see the edges getting more and more defined each day. Of course, my Wii no longer knows who I am. I went 42 days without using it. It yelled at me. Metaphorically. (And yet I did lose weight, because my schedule really has been that grueling.)

Show (Nunsense) went okay. Would have gone better had I not caught the flu at Balticon, thus losing my VOICE three days before opening night. Yeah. But it's okay. I wish I could say this is the first time in my life I've had to deal with such a thing. Luckily, long experience has taught me how to pull a credible performance out of my butt even when I have very little instrument to work with. The notes were all there, but all my air was simply going into sound production. And the middle of my range, right at the break, was just really friggin' scratchy sounding all weekend. But it worked; it's over; I did manage to find the sound somewhere.

So I've been recovering from that and trying to force my computer to cooperate long enough to record all the necessary vocals for Lena's LeakyCon project ("The Warlock's Hairy Heart.") - gods, I need a new computer. That is next on my list, I swear.

What else? Oh - most important: PENNSIC IS A GO! I may need to cut things a little shorter than usual, so that I can be home and back at work *on* the 15th, but yes, I am going to Pennsic. Yay!

I think that's about all for the time being. Watching the Bruins (since the Penguins must win next year instead) and Game of Thrones and playing HP Alternity. What's up with you lovely folks?

Hai.

Yeah, I was so busy over the weekend that...well, I forgot yesterday was Monday. I mean, with the coming home and all. And even though I was home last night...I was really whipped. So no Monday Meta for [livejournal.com profile] wee_chesters, no update from the weekend.

I suck.

Well.

Saturday )

Sunday )

Monday I got up, packed, and D&D and Mom drove me to the airport (BTW, they have a new RAV4 and love it, so that's a notch in its belt on the car decision). I called [livejournal.com profile] etakyma, who is the bestest non-spouse ever and she picked me up at Logan and then hung out with me yesterday until time to go to her rehearsal.

Then I watched Timeline, which wasn't nearly as bad as I'd been led to believe (but it was bad enough!), and then the first half of the new Andromeda Strain. Yes, it was a Michael Crichton night for me.

Andre Braugher is really looking old. Just sayin'.

BigBang - I have read through each parallel story on its own and made some modifications. I merged it back together and now I need to re-read it again. It went up 1,000 words, not down. But that's okay. One thing that's reassuring is that the "Modern" sections are only 5 pages shorter in total than the "Flashbacks" - so it's fairly even at least in terms of overall story length. I'm a little concerned that it's still light on casework, but this isn't so much about the file as the people. I'm also concerned with my John, but I think I can shut him down a tiny bit more and he'll be okay.

And the other thing? Yeah. Totally didn't do a Monday Meta. Sigh. And I had a topic, too! Now I can't remember it. Naturally.

Well. Today I started training our new Admin Coordinator! and called my doctor and convinced him to call in a Z-pack without making me come in and be seen. No, really. I can diagnose a sinus infection, doc. Just gimme the drugs.

So I'll pick that up on the way home, and I need to hit the grocery store or I won't have food.

Oh, and I got some pretty good news yesterday of a Supernatural nature, but I'm not able to talk about it yet. :^D

As far as all of you? Well, I hate to tell you, gang, but I'm probably at about skip=800. No lie. So, I'm terribly sorry, I'm declaring a moratorium on trying to catch up. I'll read LJ tonight with posts from the last day or so, but all the way back? Sorry. No. So if I missed anything major in the last 100 hours or so, I'm really sorry. Clue me. Except for Morgen and Erin's dad, because I know about that. :^(

Well, technically, Eldersburg.

Long day yesterday, topped off with no wireless at my aunt and uncle's (which, why would they? They've only got one computer). So I'm just posting now.

Who will I see at Balticon? I don't have a panel until 5:00 PM, but tomorrow I'm there pretty much all day.

I'm also *Still* coughing/sore throating/GI Tract vaguely unhappy no matter what-ing. I think it's turning sinus infection-y. Will get Dayquil on the way to the con.

Okay, I had an ear infection about...11 years ago? And since then my left ear has been a little messed up. It doesn't "pop" with pressure changes. Between my stuffed-up head and chest, for the first time in a LONG time while flying, I had actual PAIN on the descent. As in, from the bit of cartilage that covers the ear canal, down through my Eustachian tubes and the cochlear duct, right into my lymph nodes under the jaw hurt. Sharp pain. Yay.

And I feel gnawingly hungry, but anything I eat goes down and causes lots and lots of GI distress... (Ew, yeah, I know). I'm just burping like mad, feels like I've overeaten even if I've just had a few bites. I had mad hiccups Thursday night for like half an hour, and did I mention the abdominal cramps?

Yeah. And I cough every time I breathe too deep. This is GREAT.

So it's probably just as well that I won't see my nieces (well, technically, my uncle and aunt's grandchildren, but since technically, we're not blood relatives, anyway....). I really wouldn't want to pass on this lovely spring virus.

But if you're planning to be at Balticon, come anyway - I promise I won't breathe on you.

All the places I'll be at Balticon:

Saturday 5 pm Belmont 42 reasons why you should write for young adults

Sunday 10 Am Garden Why writing can't be taught and how to teach it

Sunday noon Derby Getting published

Sunday 6 pm Salon E How not to break into print

Sunday 7 pm Garden Bad-Ass Faeries 2 Launch

Then there's the launch party in Oxford, MA on Friday the 30th.

OMG, four panels, all on publishing. Yikes. I hope I don't embarrass myself.

Well, not exactly. But sometimes life can be very convenient.

Some people know that I've done a little freelance editing with a group called Sidhe Na Daire. I've helped to text-edit one short-story anthology with them, and then we worked on another one which we hoped to publish last year.

We - or more accurately, Danielle, our fearless leader - found a publisher. :)

So she sends us all email saying that the editing group will be launching our second story anthology, "Bad-Ass Fairies," at Balticon... in Baltimore... on Memorial Weekend. Where I'm already basically going to be, because of my cousin's wedding. How conveniently cool is that?! Apparently I *can* be essentially in two places at once!

And an addition to being one of the text editors on it, I have a short story that will be published in it.

Hee. So here in a shameless plug is our promo:

Buy your copy of Bad-Ass Faeries at Balticon (www.balticon.org) and you could win your wings!
Visit www.sidhenadaire.com/promo.htm to find out how!

If you're in the area and want to come to the convention, we're having a launch party on Sunday. I will probably not be there on Saturday because of the wedding (cf above, can't be in two places at exactly the same time), but all the authors are going to be signing and stuff on Sunday.

Whee!
