Wibbling about FaerieCon

First off, a little GRRRR: I forgot my flash drive today, hence cannot get half the things done I was going to do. However, it's almost time to go home already, so meh. I did manage to start the next scene in my fic (just skipping ahead), so I still got a little progress.
Meanwhile....
The book my story is in, Bad-Ass Faeries? Danielle is promoting it at FaerieCon, and I'm wibbling about whether I should go.
Pros:
I can get air tickets for about $150 round trip - direct flights, even
Registration is open and not expensive
I'd potentially hook up with a lot of LJ and other friends, like
moony,
awelkin,
blpurdom,
here_be_dragons and maybe others?
It would be very good to be there to help promote the book
Cons:
I have no clue how to get from the airport to the convention center
I don't have anywhere to stay (and no offers, yet, for crash or sharing a hotel room)
Even though so far the tickets are supercheap, I really shouldn't be spending any unnecessary money, because bills like whoah.
So, wibble.
Also, I have this credit card, and I had mondo points on it, and I was planning to cash in this insane number of points to get $250 worth of *gift cards* which I was going to use at Amazon to buy an iPod. But then two things happened. 1. I found that they had changed things around a little and it was actually more cost-effective to cash in slightly *fewer* points for the same amount of $ in cash, instead of gift cards. 2. I have bills like whoah.
So instead I cased in the fewer points and now have the money. But that changes things, because now it's *money* and not an Amazon GC. So I'm trying to decide what to do with this check I received. The *responsible* thing is to put it on my bills. The slightly longer-term planning says to put it into the savings for the car I must inevitably buy next year (if not sooner, please gods, not sooner). But.... new toy! Oh, well.
In honour of these two rather troubling decisions I must make, I present to you:
