I haven't updated in a bit.

Oh, I think I may have at least partially dislodged some of the writer's block on my original novel. But only a toehold. And I had a couple ideas about a short story I've been invited to submit to another anthology, though nothing is flowing yet on that, just more thoughts. But it's some progress, anyway.

Alternity continues to be awesome, but a little slow at the moment. The muses are taking a breather, I guess.

Where the heck did October go?

September 29 - my father came to visit. Left on October 3rd. October 4, went to Witching Hour. Got sick. Came back to Tech Week for Wellesley Players' Fundraiser that weekend. Mum came in on Friday night; performances Saturday and Sunday.

This weekend? Was the first in about 3 that I've had just to relax...and dig myself out. My flat still looks like it was taken over by the registration desk from the Salem Waterfront. Well, that and bits of my Halloween costume (that I won't finish in time) lying about everywhere.

Slughornucopia fics are due in a week. I've started mine three times and liked none of them.

And instead of wanting to write HP, I've been rereading The Westmark Trilogy and now I'm *dying* for Connie or Florian fanfic. Yes, I have a t00by love for Constantine. The world needs more of him.

But really, what I must do is eulogize a friend who died very suddenly and unexpectedly this afternoon. Johann was a really remarkable man, professionally and personally, and I will miss him a great deal, even though I only got to see him in brief doses after the first time we met. He gets the credit for introducing me to grouchyoldcoot. I'm not sure how I'll make it to Pittsburgh for the wake, or if I'll even be able to go, but I'm going to try. Arianna, my thoughts are with you and your family.

The great thing about Johann is that he'd think it fitting tribute to write porn in his memory. One thing I loved about Johann was his unabashed lechery. I'll write him something more... uh...respectable at some point, when I can put thoughts together that don't consist of OMGWTFDMZ? But he's not inappropriate inspiration for Slughorn. Hm. Maybe I can use that?

I simply refuse to add this to the growing list of challengefics I have utterly failed to meet over the past two years. Argh.

Okay. No really. Off to write.
