Author’s Notes: Thanks to
erinrua for the gun-fu advice and general beta of awesome, as well as my regular beta
etakyma, who is made of win. Crenshaw Middle School is fictional; loosely based on Willis Jr. High School. Title is from Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar We’re Goin’ Down” – yeah, yeah, I know. But I’m familiar with the a capella version.
Summary: The demon-worshipping cult that John has been tracking chooses Sam’s Middle School as their target. But John doesn’t know that there’s already another investigator on the case. Medium crossover (but pre-series, so not necessary to know anything about Medium).
Genre: Gen
Characters: Dean, Sam, John, Lee Scanlon (Medium), multiple OC’s
Wordcount: 21,940
Disclaimer: Soooo not mine. Dammit.
( Cock It and Pull It )
Continued in Part Two....
Concluded in Part Three

This features mechanic!Dean and Great Writer!Sam (not really, but it evokes that feel) and has a great rhythm.
I love that Dean's love of machinery and being Mr. fix-it come through in this, even though it's ostensibly about Sam and Sam's love of learning, using the typewriter as a metaphor for the tangibility of words in a life that is transient. Highlight: Sam's pen-pal interaction with a hunter-friend of Dad's.

Okay, I'm sure everyone's already read this one, but this is worth it, even if it's a very different picture of the Winchesters than is in many people's heads. It features PsychoKiller!John and Buff!Sam, with a short, but powerful appearance by BangerTeen!Dean. (Again, these descriptions are a bit exaggerated, but not by much.)
The John in this fic is unsettling, to say the least. The OC is right to be afraid, but it's an interesting take on our fandom tropes about John Winchester living in fear that Social Services will come take the boys away. It helps that they're teens, so perhaps he's not as worried about the courts deciding he's abusive. But he's certainly badass in this fic. The one downside is that this is played so to the hilt that it's a wonder the OC doesn't report John for child abuse.
Sam's determination not to be outdone (by himself or his father?) is really effective and Dean's limited role provides both comic relief and the small amount of familiar tenderness to be found. John's affection is clear, but buried deep beneath layers of preoccupation.
So go read!

Fic Post: "Rescue Me"
Dec. 17th, 2007 10:05 pmTitle: Rescue Me
Author: Gwendolyn Grace (
gwendolyngrace)
Genre: Pre-series, Teen!Chesters
Characters: Sam and Dean, OC’s
Rating: PG-13 for language, sexual situations, drug and alcohol use
Summary: “I just…can you just come and get me?” Sam asked. Pekin, Illinois, 1995: Sam accepts an invitation to a birthday party, only to learn it’s really not what he was expecting. Dean to the rescue! Or not quite….
Disclaimer: No copyright infringement intended. Just say No to Drugs!
Author’s Notes: Did anyone else ever get presented with “contracts” in school? This is the result of that idea. Also, I’ve wanted to explore an early experience with marijuana in Dean’s life for a while, and this plot bunny offered up a good opportunity. Don’t worry: he doesn’t inhale. Much. Thanks to the betas,
relli86 and especially
etakyma for their feedback.
Wordcount: 5,750ish
( Dean picked up Kelly Unger in time to get a pizza before the movie. He’d asked Kelly out twice before, and while she had been willing to see him outside school, their plans had always fallen through for one reason or another.... )
