What is it with me and talismanic jewelry?

Two years ago, six months after getting my AEthelmearc escarbuncle ring (with no crappy incorrect Latin!), I lost it.

Yesterday, while hanging up the laundry, one of the horns on my amulet hooked on the edge of the laundry basket, and it yanked off the jump ring. I swear, I didn't hear it land at all. Certainly not on the hard wood floor, or the bookcase, or any of the other items it would have made a noise hitting.

But it's not on the carpet in the open, either.

Dangit. I'm going to have to take that room apart to find it. And of course, it's the room with ALL THE CRAP I throw back there for lack of a better place.

Grr.

Ooh, not good.

Which way were you facing? It couldn't go through your body, at least.

... did it maybe land in the clothes in the basket? I knocked a pepper shaker off the shelf on the weekend, went to catch it and I would've sworn it dissappeared into a dimensional rift, but it turned out that it landed in my pocket. Still have no idea how that happened, but if your pendant landed in the basket on some clothes, maybe it slid into a pocket? Or slid off into the grass or whatever is under your laundry line?

That's what I was going to suggest...if you didn't hear it land, possibly it got stuck on some clothing?

Meh. I was wearing PJ's.

It's in that room somewhere. Will just have to clean it out carefully.

You'd think, but no. I actually hung up all the laundry in the hope that it would fall off an article of clothing or wind up in the bottom of the basket. Sadly, no.

The good news is that there is no "outside" in this equation. My laundry drying rack is inside, in the back room.

The bad news is that that's the "Stuff" room - as in, the room where I throw all the stuff I don't have a place for anywhere else.

So I think a total cleanout will be in order.

As for pockets, I was wearing pyjamas.

It's got to be somewhere, it's just a question of finding it.

(Is it weird that it's my driving charm, and I feel wiggy about driving without it?)
