So I drove to Target this morning and took the bus in from there. Tried to rush for the bus; wound up stepping in mud up to my ankle. Lovely.

CRAZY day. CRAZY. Totally flat-out, all day, no time to breathe, much less check email.

Came back; tootled through Target for a bit. Spent too much, but bought what I came in for plus three cami-tops, two pairs of men's sleep pants (read: Walking around Pennsic Pants!), and three boxes of cereal. Oh, and a pair of winter boots for next year.

AND THEN.

My engine light came on just as I was getting home. Car seems to be running fine. Though it does have 145K+ miles, so it could just be a routine thing.

But FRAK.

Ashleeeeeeey! Why are you doing this to me?!

I hope your car trouble isn't too bad, whatever the problem is. My last experience with car trouble was a freaky almost-accident a couple weeks ago. My sister and I were headed out for the morning, and we had to turn around at the end of the street and go back for something I forgot. When we took off again, the brakes completely gave out, before we'd even backed out of the driveway. The brake fluid was leaking out and there wasn't going to be any stopping for us. At all. We would have been on one of the city's main streets if we hadn't turned around. 'Twas very weird.

Anyway, I'm sorry about your bad day. Though I have to say, I love that your icon is so fitting. You didn't lose your shoe, but it still works. I hope you have a better day tomorrow! :)

Last year my father came for a visit and we decided to go to Plymouth for the day. We left and shortly after leaving, my compressor died. Okay, we decided to use 4/80 air conditioning. Got all the way to Plymouth, all the way back to Arlington for dinner, and then, *TWO BLOCKS* from my house on the way home, the car died. Turned out that the compressor had died because the serpentine belt was on its way out, and it took all the distance we drove that day for it to snap.

So yeah, freaky car things happen all the time. It's one of the reasons Ashley's name is Ashley (because while the poor thing is old, he's done superb service).

It's always easier to deal with the freaky car problems if they happen while you're somewhere familiar and safe, and it seems that you got lucky in that regard last year. Good ol' Ashley must be very dependable!
