I printed this out quite some time ago but RL has been too crazy for me to commit to the time I knew I'd want to spend reading it in as close to one fell swoop as possible. As soon as I'd started it, I knew it was a fic that I'd have trouble stepping away from *g*.
Finally this weekend I was able to settle down to it and just thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a terrific case fic but most especially I loved your John here... that he was a bad-ass back then is no surprise but I'm so glad you showed him as a still-learning, imperfect hunter. I think that's perfect for the time-period - he was still learning the ropes after all - and getting a glimpse of this man struggling to be a father and hunter was just a treat.
Loved your boys' voices here as much as John's. The insults and teasing and poutiness... all very real and totally believable.
You warned me this was a long fic and there's no denying that *g* but it never for a moment felt too long and was a wonderfully engrossing story that I enjoyed from beginning to end :)
