Thanks.... I loved putting Jo in there, and once I thought of it, I had to do it. I like it because John's interaction with her is so different from how he is with the boys, or at least how he is most of the time. It's almost a glimpse of the father he would have continued to be if they hadn't lost Mary.
Dryads' Rights! LOL. Yeah, I think it's also that Ellen's sees things from a different angle, tries not to destroy if there's any way to avoid it. Whereas John may have seen the killing much the way Dean did, as a catharsis, a way of exacting some small vengeance on the world for taking Mary away, for turning him back into the soldier he thought he'd left in the jungle.
Meh. So much to play with! Man, do you think they ever realized the were creating such rich, fertile soil for character study?
