Then again (having just watched the episode again), it's also pretty clear that Dean is setting Christmas solely at John's feet (no foolish, "Santa will come" and no angst from Sam about whether he'll find them with presents--only whether Dad will be home)
Yes, I got the sense that Christmas = John; no attempt on Dean's part of: "Even if Dad doesn't make it Santa will still find us". (I'm trying to think how old I was when I stopped believing in Santa and I can't remember, but I know my almost six-year-old nephew is still a definite believer.) I'm glad Sam still has the belief for another year, anyway.
And I wouldn't say I'm not a meanie...you haven't read the end yet!
