Oh, I know it... I didn't actually want M.S., I wanted the Baroness - at least there, they cast someone a little older than I am, and she's very good and I like her a lot, so I can't even decide to "hate the bitch".
Honestly, the whingeyness is all part of my process, and I know that, I just have to go through it all the same.
This is the 2nd time I'll have worked with - and the 2nd time I've auditioned for - the same music director, too, and I think he may just not like my voice. He got to know my voice when I was Stage Managing "Wizard of Oz" - I frequently had to stand in for other characters, inc. Glinda - but when I've auditioned for him, he's asked me to tamp my vibrato, etc.... and the woman who was cast as the Baroness has a very straight, Bel Canto tone, so it may just be a personal preference of his.
