I love it when someone discovers one of my older fics, it's like I get to rediscover it all over again, myself.
As for what John remembers... QL makes it fairly clear that the leapee gets swiss-cheesed memory during the leaps as well, so John probably would have been highly disoriented. I thought about a few scenes from his perspective, but they just didn't seem necessary, and I liked the simplicity of keeping it from Sam B's perspective, just like an episode of QL would have done.
Of course, since this is all now very Joss'd, it doesn't really matter, but I'm still proud that the characters worked and felt like (for what we knew at the time) their reactions would have been.
Someone also suggested an epilogue where the adult Dean and Sam run into Beckett, but...I dunno. That may or may not ever get written.
