I don't see him as a Mummy's boy, either, and one of my issues with Snape is that he has always seemed to be the kind of person who "needs a mother very badly," and doesn't have one around. So one challenge has been getting mum out of the picture.+
Yeah, I've been struck by that ever since a silly R/S comic wherein Snape is constantly whinging about "asking Santa for his pony." It's classic, isn't it? Citizen Kane, wizard-style.
