Oh, and I need to replenish my supply of pencils in my purse.

So I went last night to a "call-back" of sorts for Mame - really, almost a brand new audition. The original director, the scut runs, simply flaked out on showing up at all - he was at neither audition. The Weston folks scrambled and found a new director, emailed us all and said, essentially, "If you're still interested/available, please come back!"

I was just as happy to get a second shot at this, because at the original audition, I was still getting over the cold and really not in good shape to sing. On top of that, the accompianist and I contrived to thoroughly *tank* the song and I'm not at all certain I ever got back into the right key after re-starting (it was as complete a clusterfuck as 24 bars can accomplish, that I have ever experienced). It was bad enough, in fact, that the choreographer, who was (I now know) scrambling to hand out readings, only had me read once, and that in a group scene where Gooch only had a couple lines (blah).

This audition went a bit better, though I can never tell about these things. Whatever.

The point, though, is that the director was stuck in traffic and the rest of us got to talking about a bunch of things, including the new release date for Book 6. Naturally, I handed out pencils. :^)

Also connected to a gentleman named Craig Howard, who, it turns out, was in a production of Secret Garden with a friend of Amy's (Lonnie). Wonderful chap, our Craig, and a stitch and a half of fun. We got on like a house afire, and when the conversation included King Richard's Fair, he also mentioned that he knows the music director there. Hm. Summer job, perhaps?

Anyway. So I have to restock my pencils from home.
