Yet another Portus Announcement!
Mar. 27th, 2008 10:07 amThe Programming schedule is up! YAY!
Lots of really amazing-looking presentations and roundtables and panels and OMGYAY workshops:
http://www.hp2008.org/programming.htm
I'm especially excited about "Growing Up with Harry" - a discussion about and for those young people who were in their teens (or younger) when they started reading the books and entered fandom 7-10 years ago, and some of whom are now in college (or done, or even in high school!) and how having Harry Potter and the fan experience throughout their teen years has affected their lives. HP is really the first fandom to come of age in the time of the internet, and fans who have had the opportunity to interact over Harry, who have also been growing up at the same time, will have a radically new and different perspective than us old fuddie-duddies who remember when a young fan struggling to connect had only fanzines--or not even that, depending. It should be *REALLY* interesting.
Quite a few different "Dumbledore is Gay! OMGWTFBBQ" kinds of presentations - but from a variety of angles, so there should be plenty there to talk about.
Workshops on Vids and Icons, yay. The presentation on parenting in the Potterverse ("Is the best Mum a dead Mum?") sounds really interesting, too. Yes, I'm thinking of the mothers I know (some of you on this flist!) who really hate the portrayal of Molly Weasley.
I'm so pleased with this programming lineup! And on top of all that, we *still* have Monique Trottier and HENRY JENKINS (!) and OMG JIM DALE.
