No, really, an update
Jun. 17th, 2005 09:26 amOkay, first of all, I was horrified by this, so I had to share. He was arrested about three weeks ago, and in the police investigation, they found oh, so much more:
May story
Mercury News Article
From NPR's All Things Considered (yesterday): Police in San Jose, Calif., hold a convicted child molester who they say may have committed sex crimes against 36,000 victims in five states and three countries. The accused, 63-year-old Dean Arthur Schwartzmiller, is in jail without bail.
That's right: 36,000 names, mostly boys' names (although also mostly first names), and next to each name a code of sorts that police believe represents various sex acts he committed on each child.
Ew.
Ready for this? His roommate is also a convicted sex offender. I guess that makes sense, right? I mean, who else are you going to share space with? It's important to live with someone who shares your interests.
Ew.
Okay, I'm just going to say this: All of you out there who think that fen who write about chan and chan slash are sick: This is the Real Thing. If you want somewhere to direct your disgust and your horror, direct it at the people like this guy, who obviously cannot control themselves.
At least I have proof that as much as I may enjoy fantasising about chan, I'm still repelled by it in real life. Phew. Was there any doubt?
Now, in other news: A'jes and I are strongly considering going to NYC to help out at Books of Wonder for the HBP release. Anyone in the NYC area who has crash space and no cats (A'jes is allergic), who could put us up for July 15 and 16? Please? Would make the trip much less expensive!
