musesfool posted a meme in her journal about our icons. I commented and she picked these icons, which I must now explain.

This is Hello Severus! I suck, because the name of the person who made this icon is probably on my home computer. I know I saw it in someone else's LJ and asked if I could gak it, and she said yes. Ildi_hp, was that you? Or was it Murasaki_99?

This one was made by

inyourpants_, who tweaked it for me from a bunch of icons she made for AHBL II. The joke (which many are too young to get) comes from the old Ivory Soap slogan: 99 and 44/100ths percent pure. When YED taunts Dean in AHBL II, he asks, "How certain are you that what you brought back is 100 percent, pure Sammy?" Hence, my brain put the two terms together in front of the image of Sam being all bad-ass and plugging Jake way many more times than necessary to kill him. Yeah, it takes way longer to explain than the joke's probably worth. But I love this icon.

These two are both by someone named

veetvoojagig and they were posted to a public icon journal for one of my favourite online comics, Girl Genius. If you have never heard of this (and most of you haven't), it's by Phil and Kaja Foglio, and it's a "Gaslamp Fantasy Adventure" about an alternative Europe filled with mad scientists, known as "sparks." The first icon is of the symbols for Spark-ese (or at least, Agatha in Spark-mode), which is represented in the comic as a combination of music and magic.

The second is one of her little constructs, or "clanks," who is at this moment getting an Idea. It's the "lightbulb over the head" type of picture, otherwise known as being a smartie.

This one and the next reference George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire." I tried this fandom online, but I really don't like the community. The books are amazing, though, and yes, it has all those things in Canon (so technically, it's not "slash" but okay).

Also from ASOIAF - one of the syllogisms that Syrio Forel, the fencing master, says when he is teaching young Arya to use the blade. As a former fencer (yeah, I know, shush), this one is both a reminder of what used to be a fun activity for me, and a reminder that sometimes what holds us back is not our ability, but our doubts.

This is one of the oldest icons I have, back from before I really knew how to do this properly, and so unfortunately it's another anonymous one. I got it from

marauderthesn, but last time I asked her, I don't think even she knew exactly where she found it. But again, I say "Thank you!" to the uncredited iconographer, because I love this icon so much. Remus/Sirius has been a major part of my interest in the Harry Potter fandom, and no matter what, I will always hold their relationship to be canon. I much *prefer* the relationship in my AU, however, where they are messed up and completely dysfunctional, but at least they're together. And alive. And there's the possibility of a happy future.
