Gratuitous Mood Post!

I'm posting to test my new custom mood theme, found on [livejournal.com profile] crackified and created by the talented and generous [livejournal.com profile] speakfree & [livejournal.com profile] aredhel4!

Is it not excellent? Sweet.

A brief update, since I'm here:

1. Fandom panel for prophecy: coming together. I had a couple brainstorms yesterday.

2. Car: Well, my poor Ashley-Pitt is about at the end of his rope. Over the last 2 1/2 months, I've poured $2200 into keeping him running: exhaust system, alternator belt and compressor, and then more on the exhaust system (the one pipe they thought they could skip replacing). Kelly blue book says that the car, in good condition, is only worth about $2000 in a personal sale (and less than half that as a trade-in). So while I fervently hope that my boy is OKAY now and has at least another year or so of faultless running in him, I think I have got to plan that by next year at this time, I will have another car. I'm still interested in a Protege5 if I can find a 2005 model in great shape, but I'm also thinking about other makes and models. I'd love 4WD or AWD, and I *definitely* want something with a little more room, but *not* necessarily a full-on SUV and not a land yacht. On my list are the Matrix ([livejournal.com profile] etakyma is so happy with hers I am not allowed to drive it!), the Vibe (similar to the Matrix but apparently with less zoom?), Outback, Forester, and the Chevy Malibu Maxx (need to find out more about this car). Any others I should research?

3. Job - going well, actually. Still too much time on my hands which is both a good and a bad thing.

4. Book Release: I'm going to the Harvard Square party. Anyone else? Oh, and I was interviewed by the Boston Phoenix, article to come out on Jul. 19.

To do today: Finish getting the car inspected (since it bounced last week and has been repaired)

Groceries?
Laundry?
Banner?
Post office to mail bills
Liam and Alethea's party?

We are seriously considering the Scion XB. We drove it and were pleasantly surprised - it does not drive like a tin box! The price is excellent, it's made by Toyota, it has lots of safety features, and the gas mileage is to die for.

Cool - it looked a bit boxy, but I will look into it. Especially since Ashley fricking *slipped a gear* tonight.... he came back from it but ngggg. Second time since May and I *asked* them to look at the transmission when he was in for everything else.

Might do, if I can rearrange some things on my schedule so that I travel up to Boston that day rather than another...

If you're still interested, I have a friend who has booked a room at the Cambridge Hyatt. The plan is to go back there after getting the books and read / crash if necessary. That way none of us needs to try to get back out of town at 1:00 AM....

email me at gwendolyngrace @ livejournal.com if you think you might come up.
