Lyrics!

Because I feel like it. No looking them up! (I didn't.)

Guess the songs*:

1. I could become a frying pan or a brand new Chevrolet. - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] etakyma

2. So if you care to find me, look to the western skies. - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] sylke (and [livejournal.com profile] etakyma, but she didn't post because she's sitting right here) and by many others (the most guessed so far!)

3. My intuition told me you'd come on the scene. - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] etakyma

4. Come saddle my horses and call out my men!

5. That's it! That's right! I've found myself a partner who knows my style.

6. Near a soldier, an ex-marine with a tattooed dagger and an eagle trembling....

7. Let loose from the noose that's kept me hangin' about-- - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] roguebitch

8. Destiny beckons; I never reckoned second best.... - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] etakyma

9. Wide as a mile--the Shieldwall.... - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] sylke

10. Do not fear! We'll be here! Courageous are we.

*I really highly doubt any one person will get *all* of these, especially since there's a...broad range of songs represented here. And some are really obscure. But hey, why not?

Can you guess that I have a fondness for internal rhyme?

7. Is Aerosmith . . . "Walk This Way?" (Unless you've got someone else's cover).

Other than that . . . stumped. 2. Sounds familiar, but I haven't no idea what it might be. :D

Oh you're right - it's AC-DC . . . "Back in Black."

Dagnabbit, a song which I heard just two days ago, when I saw "Iron Man." LOL! I love that song. I can't believe I thought that was "Walk This Way."

(BTW, I didn't Google it; it just came into my head when I saw your comment). :D :D :D

#7: Back in Black, AC/DC.

The others? I got nothin.

[identity profile] gwendolyngrace.livejournal.com 2008-05-13 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Correct! 9 I would not expect you to ever get, because I'm positive you've never heard it.

10 you might get depending on whether Hari watches a lot of Disney.

Er, we try not to. *grins*

7 is only the most *obvious*. ;->

Obvious to you! [livejournal.com profile] etakyma has just been telling me that she doesn't pay any attention to classic rock (and when it appears in Show, she ignores it unless she already recognizes it).

I'm a really bad person to try and guess these because you could give me the entire chorus of a lot of songs I know and I still wouldn't know what the name of the song is. Plus I'm always more of a melody than a lyrics person, so that doesn't really help me either. :) That said...

#1: rings a bell, a bit, but no idea where or what.
#2 took me a minute. I could hear it, but I couldn't place it or finish the song. I know it's from Wicked, I know it's Elphaba, at the end. It's probably the best known song from there, gimme a minute, the title will come to me when my mental iTunes finally stops skipping and gets to the chorus.
#7, I can sing that line, but I can't even tell you whether it's a pop song or movie soundtrack or musical, much less finish the next line. It's something I hear a lot, which makes me think modern radio song since I haven't had Broadway in rotation in ages...
#8, that's not Wicked again, is it? It took me until now to remember "Defying Gravity", there's no way I'm going to remember what that one is.
#9, ooh ooh, that one I can do! :D "Scarlet".
#10 I think is another SCA song? Or a musical.

It's official, I suck at lyrics. ;) Did I ever mention I'm really bad with names, too?

I'm really bad at names, too.

2 and 9 are correct!

I'm glad *someone* else recognizes 9....

2. "Defying Gravity" from Wicked

[identity profile] gwendolyngrace.livejournal.com 2008-05-14 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Correct!

[identity profile] nezumi1288.livejournal.com 2008-05-13 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
number 2 is from wicked - Elphaba, in Defying Gravity

[identity profile] gwendolyngrace.livejournal.com 2008-05-14 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Correct!

That's the one with the highest number of correct answers.

10 is from the Rescue Rangers, it's their official song. "R-E-S-C-U-E, Rescue Aid Society! Heads held high, touch the sky. You mean everything to me!"

Godalmighty I don't believe I remember that song. I have it on a 33 record at home. I used to play it over and over again when I was young.

And yes, I recognize 9, I just figured someone else already guessed, so... ;)

[identity profile] gwendolyngrace.livejournal.com 2008-05-14 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Hah - close! Lyrics are right, but it's The Rescuers, not Rescue Rangers

[identity profile] mg4h.livejournal.com 2008-05-14 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
@#(*^@#(*& I got it fixed in the lyrics, once I realized I did that (stupid Chip'n'Dale) but didn't fix the first line. I DID get the lyrics right, right?

Right?

;)

You bet:

In a jam? In a scrape? And you think, no escape?
Do not fear! We'll be here! Courageous are we
R-E-S-C-U-E. Rescue Aid Society.
Heads held high, touch the sky,
You mean everything to me!
