Well...FUCK.
Joel is here and we've been having a lovely visit. We went into Waltham today to meet his friend Jean for lunch, had a great time, then scooted out to Framingham and metetakyma just in time to see The Golden Compass.
Um...spoiler free mini-review: Visually stunning. Stuck fairly closely to the story with the usual allowances for compression, except they end the movie before the final few chapters of the book. Which...huh?
On the other hand, Lee Scoresby is still my favourite character, and Sam Elliott is STILL a damn sexy man, even with greasy hair.
Anyway. Then we all went to get dinner inetakyma's car, leaving mine at the theatre. She dropped us back off at the car... which is DED. DEAD. Gear shift completely will not engage AT ALL - stuck in park and the gear shift is floating free.
Called for a tow and had it towed to my garage. A came back and drove us home, because she is THE BEST FRIEND EVER. Will have to wait until Monday to find out if this is a simple-ish fix or if it really is, as I fear, the transmission dropping out for good.
This is SO not on the list of things I needed to have hit NOW.
