A little update

Poor me. ;^D

No, not really.

But a few setbacks / things to do and I'm just feeling somewhere between stressed and depressed. Nothing major.

Auditioned for "Sound of Music" last night. So MANY people! OMG. Great for the group, but whoa. It was the second night of auditions and I was #116. They were supposed to start adults at 8:30, but there were so many kids that it was after 10 by the time we were done with them all. And that's *after* they asked whether any of them waiting could easily come back tonight. So I guess they planned to start at 7 with the leftover kids and then hear adults as soon as possible afterwards. Yikes. Gotta admire Chris, Joanne, and the casting committee - they were troopers and just kept going.

Elise was there. She had played Scout in the production of "Mockingbird" I was in two years ago (and she just did it again at AFD this past fall). She's a good kid, lots of personality, though not as polished and not as loud as some of the other singers they had going for the roles. However, she came bounding over and sat on my lap for about 5 minutes, which was great, because it adequately filled up my kid quotient.

Ryan C was also there - he and his friend Nick pulled in just as I did. Both auditioning for Rolf. I knew that I knew him right off, but it took a minute to place him, because OMG he's grown. He was my younger nephew in "Lost in Yonkers" - the "Sam" of the play's version of "Sam and Dean" - and jesus, now he's driving and looking at colleges? Just not possible. Nope. David D has also grown about 8" since we did "Wizard of Oz" and Noah T's voice has dropped. Nate W was also there and did very well.

But seriously. All you young people out there in my life? Grow down.

So anyway, it was really late before we got to sing. In the interest of time, I decided to cut my song short and I think in retrospect I should not have done this. On one hand, Chris knows my range and he knows my voice, and the Players certainly know me, but Joanne hasn't heard me before. Meh. I don't anticipate a callback. That's okay, though, because the show I really want to be in is in April, auditions in January, and while it's possible to be cast in both, it would be very difficult to make it to all those rehearsals. I won't be surprised if they ask me to be a nun, though.

And auditions for "The Princess and the Pirate" are next week. The production team - Barbara, Wil, and so on - were all there watching auditions. Scouting, I expect.

Next, I REALLY need to get my car in. For one thing, the squeal is sounding BAD. Horribly bad. That's a necessary repair. For another, I got a good look at the rear end today, after parking nearby the bus terminus. And the trunk is *definitely* off-kilter. So after 7 when my minutes are free, I'm calling the woman, who no doubt figured she was getting off easy, to discuss what she wants to do about paying for whatever damage needs to be fixed. I'm open to a number of options, including putting in a claim, though I very much doubt this would total the car.

Too much to do department: Have to record a fic for SpellCast and it's got a cast of thousands. Not sure how I'm going to pull off all the voices and make them sound distinct. Oy. If any of you have actually listened to my fic readings, got any thoughts about Bill, Arthur, Percy, um... Flitwick, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Harry, Nevill, Seamus, Dean, Oliver, George, Charlie, Molly....

Yeah. This'll be fun.
