F_W does not understand the difference between a rant and a reasoned opinion.

And sometimes, apparently, neither does FictionAlley.

I think they both do understand the difference between a rant and a reasoned opinion. Reasoned opinions don't usually go in for self-important hyperbole. Saying something is a rant does not give the ranter the license to be ugly, mean, or cruel.

Thank you for giving me a useful argumentative tool. Next time someone asks me to illustrate what I mean by "irony" I shall say: "You know: like characterising someone as "ugly, mean or cruel" in a post one doesn't have the guts to sign one's name to".
