Well, I think that a Christmas without any presents at all would have been on Sam's list of bad holiday memories, plus this is the year right before the flashback Christmas, and that's the year that started the rift, so yeah. No complete cancellation of Christmas. Just remember that Sam is of the "glass half-empty" philosophy.

And yes, he dealt with each of them separately, though fair is a question of people's mileage varying.
