Well, no, bcause he doesn't really not believe until the following year, in the flashback....

Though I suppose I could have shaken his belief and argued that "Is Santa real?" was a hopeful question aimed at recapturing a scrap of something he'd let go of, but thought he could get back if the other stuff were real, too.

But no, I think the show made it clear that Sam still kinda-sorta believed in St. Nick right up until Dean confirmed that he didn't exist.

Then again (having just watched the episode again), it's also pretty clear that Dean is setting Christmas solely at John's feet (no foolish, "Santa will come" and no angst from Sam about whether he'll find them with presents--only whether Dad will be home), so it's arguable that this incident was a major contributing factor to Sam completely giving up on the existence of Santa.

And I wouldn't say I'm not a meanie...you haven't read the end yet!
