The Day I've been Dreading....

Okay, guys.

My kitchen sink stopped draining. I am certain the trap and/or the disposal are clogged (with artichoke, to be specific). I called my landlord (upstairs, remember) to ask for help shutting off the water so I can open up the trap, empty it, and get my sink back in order.

Nope, he says, don't touch it. I'll call my guy in the morning and have him come in.

YIKES. I live in fear that someone (including my landlord) will have to come into the apartment. Because gang? IT'S A DISASTER.

What's protocol in these situations? Should I completely clear out under the sink (which includes the liquor)? I already moved several of the boxes towering up in the kitchen because I a. haven't had time to cut them up and b. am a notorious box-saver.

SHIT.

Okay

Cleaned out the area under the sink and moved the liquor to the pantry closet (I have some Jack Daniels. Who knew?).

Broke down about half the boxes and moved the other half to the back room, either because they're too much of a pain to un-box or they still have packing peanuts / air things in them.

I'll shut my bedroom door in the morning. The counters aren't cleaned off because I have dirty dishes, though I could move those to the stove, I guess. But the drainer is empty and I can move that out of the way, too, which leaves just the butcher block.

The table's still a mess, but that's marginal. I had picked up the front room a little, so that's okay. I'll straighten up the bathroom a tiny bit.

People do this all the time. Breathing.
